What changed
Jacksonville went from 1-0 after Cleveland to 1-1 after Denver, trading buzz for questions. Estimated space sits near $5,258,739, the practice squad holds 16 players and the August projection now has two real results attached to it.
Why it matters
Jacksonville is 1-1 after crushing Cleveland 34-10 at home and losing 20-13 at Denver, yet it stands alone atop the AFC South. The 13-win baseline still supports a playoff floor and a repeat division title ceiling. Now the offense has to prove it travels.
What to watch
Watch New England at EverBank Stadium on Sept. 27. Clean protection, one or two takeaways and no new absences would put Jacksonville back in command before Cincinnati and London.
What would change our mind
Multiple losses to non-elite opponents, or an extended quarterback absence that forces the backup into action, would knock Jacksonville from division favorite to the wild-card chase.
The counterevidence
- Denver scored 17 straight points after halftime and held Jacksonville to 13. That fade hits the repeat ceiling squarely because road control shapes January seeding.
- The run game offers no bailout: 56 carries, 221 yards, 3.9 per attempt, one touchdown and zero big plays.
- Turnover regression is a threat. Jacksonville finished 2025 at plus-13 with 32 sacks and 22 interceptions, but that is prior-season context, and the current plus-2 margin can cool quickly.
